Classroom Grants

Radford High School Foundation

Campaign for Continuing Excellence

The Campaign for Continuing Excellence is the initial fund established by the foundation which provides funds for annual/semi-annual cash grants to Radford City Schools and serves as the general fund for foundation expenses (i.e., annual Commonwealth of Virginia SCC registration fee, fund raising expenses including postage and printing, preparation of annual Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax, etc.). The policy of the Foundation is to award annually 100% of income earned, less minimal operating expenses, as cash grants to the local schools. Annually, teachers are encouraged to apply for grants which are awarded by the Foundation’s Cash Grants Review Committee and approved by the Board.

Grant Funds

  • The initial fund established by the foundation which provides funds for annual/semi-annual cash grants to Radford City Schools and serves as the general fund for foundation expenses (i.e., annual Commonwealth of Virginia SCC registration fee, fund raising expenses including postage and printing, preparation of annual Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax, etc.).  The policy of the Foundation is to award annually 100% of income earned, less minimal operating expenses, as cash grants to the local schools.  Annually, teachers are encouraged to apply for grants which are awarded by the Foundation’s Cash Grants Review Committee and approved by the Board.

  • The Lineburg Honorarium Fund was established in November 1989 by former Radford High School football players and friends in recognition of Norman Lineburg’s 20th anniversary in Radford to show appreciation for his successful tenure as a coach and school administrator.  During Mr. Lineburg’s tenure with Radford City Schools, funds were available for projects at his discretion for any program in the Radford City School System.    Since his retirement the Honorarium fund continues under the direction of the Radford High School Foundation Board of Directors.

  • Members of the Goodykoontz family, in 1994, established this endowed fund in memory of Bill Goodykoontz, an alumnus of Radford High School.   Each year 80% of the earnings will be allocated to the Radford High School Athletic Fund.   The balance of the 20% annual earnings will remain with the fund to build the corpus of the account.

  • Fund was established in November 1995 by the Radford Host Lion’s Club as a memorial to Morris Lepchitz and in appreciation of his years of dedicated service to the Radford community, and to the Radford Host Lion’s Club.   This fund has been primarily funded by the Radford Host Lion’s Club and members of the Lepchitz family.  During his career as a businessman and civil servant, Morris was always concerned about the citizens of Radford, and had a special love for the children of Radford when they came to him in need.  Mr. Lepchitz had a missionary zeal to help his fellow man through the Lion’s Club and, if necessary, through his personal and business resources.  The Morris Lepchitz Memorial Fund was established as a perpetual reminder of his goodness.  In 2003, the fund name was changed to include reference to Helen Lepchitz, Mr. Lepchitz’s long time spouse and helpmate, who died in 2003.  The principal amount is endowed and 90% of the income earnings are made available to charitable organizations in the City of Radford whose programs benefit children in the City School System through humanitarian aid.  The remaining 10% income earnings will remain in the fund as endowed principal.

  • This fund was created in 1998 by Carilion Community Health Fund to provide mini grants for innovative health education programs, wellness promotion, and other health related projects and activities in the Radford City Schools.  Mini grants will cover expenses for health-related equipment, supplies, curricula, teaching, etc. and reaches children grades Kindergarten to 12

  • The Marge and Robbie Roberson Memorial Endowed Classroom Grant was established in November, 2011.  Contributions including memorial gifts from family members and friends given upon the deaths of Robbie Roberson and Marge Roberson were combined to create this endowed fund to recognize the Roberson’s many years of service as educators, and their valuable contributions to the Radford City School system.  This grant fund purposes to award one or more grants each year to Radford City School teachers to pursue funding of qualified classroom projects in the earth science and environmental curriculums, and should be innovative and enhance the classroom experience.  All teachers in the Radford City School system are eligible to apply for the Roberson Memorial Grant.  However, preference will be given to teachers submitting applications from Earth Science and Environmental Curriculums, or in the absence of such applications, the Foundation’s Cash Grant Review Committee will select applications most closely related to the grant requirements.  Such grant/s will be awarded during the foundation’s annual fall grant award process.
